COOKING CLASS INFORMATION
Welcome to our cooking classes, where you’ll experience the heart of Latvian culinary traditions in a cozy and authentic setting. Held in a real Latvian home right in the center of Riga, our classes are easily accessible for both locals and visitors. Once you step inside, you won’t find a sterile studio kitchen — instead, you’ll be greeted by the warm, inviting atmosphere of a lived-in household, filled with the comforting scents of freshly baked bread, aromatic spices, and homemade cooking.
Here, you’re not just a guest; you’re part of the home. While my children won’t be present during the class, you’ll still feel the charm and authenticity of a true Latvian family kitchen — the same space where I prepare meals for my own family every day.
What to Expect
Your experience begins with a warm welcome and your choice of water, coffee, tea, or a small seasonal drink. We’ll start by discussing the menu, preparing the ingredients, and setting up the workspace. Everything you need is provided: aprons, tools, fresh ingredients, and packaging for anything you want to take home.
The classes are intentionally small and intimate, typically accommodating 4 to 6 participants. This ensures a comfortable, hands-on experience where you’ll actively chop, knead, cook, taste, and bake every dish yourself. I’ll guide you through each step, sharing tips, techniques, and insights into Latvian culinary traditions along the way.
Atmosphere & Experience
Think of this as visiting a friend’s kitchen rather than attending a formal class. You’ll get a firsthand look at how everyday meals are prepared in a Latvian household, how the kitchen is organized, and how local ingredients are used. For longer sessions, we’ll take a short lunch break to enjoy a light meal together, adding to the warm, communal experience.
